British Vacationers Cautioned To Secure Vehicles As Refugees Could Target Tourist Cars

British tourists are warned to keep their car doors locked because it’s feared that refugees might start targeting refuge in tourist’s cars.

The foreign office released this advice because many families are preparing to leave for France for summer break as Calais is stuck in a worst refugee crisis.

It is said, “There are a huge number of refugees in and around Calais who are trying to seek entry in the UK illegitimately.”

“You should keep the doors of the vehicle locked when the traffic is moving slowly and also keep it secured when you are away from it, don’t leave your vehicle unattended.”

A Eurotunnel boss has also said that they have concerns that migrants might start targeting the ordinary vehicles as well as freight trucks if this crisis worsens.

John Keefe director of Eurotunnel also said: “It might start to overlay on to the customer market.”

“The slower the traffic moves through the border there is more opportunity for migrants to jump on the vehicles.”

Last September Sue Taber a 59 year old lady found a man hiding in the trunk of her Fiat Panda when she came back from a vacation to Spain through Calais.

Another incident happened in the same month when a man Paul Coles told how an illegitimate refugee crawled under from his rented car-home when he dropped it off at Ashford, Kent.

The biggest risk vacationers may come across is from the strikes held by the French ferry workers following four days blockage early this month.

The long delays caused an opportunity for the refugees to board the trapped vehicles in endless queues.

The ferry workers have threatened to aggravate the action in summer if the dispute is not resolved.

The Foreign Office in UK said: “There is a continuing probability of disturbance to cross-channel amenities because of the industrial action.

“It is advised to check with your car rental company and plan your journey to avoid any disturbance.”
